Right Turn Right Time

Right Turn, Right Time is a virtual reality experience designed to help perpetrators of domestic abuse understand the consequences of their actions. By placing participants in the perspective of a victim, a witness and a child, the film creates a powerful sense of empathy and highlights the emotional harm abuse causes within families. Used alongside existing educational and behaviour-change programmes, the experience provides a deeper level of understanding than traditional training alone.

CHALLENGES AND OBJECTIVES

What we did

  • Experience and narrative design feedback
  • VR film production
  • Consultation with subject specialists
  • Learning resource development
  • Video Production

Objectives

  • Translate research and lived experience into an immersive virtual reality experience that supports behaviour change and professional intervention programmes.
  • Develop an evidence-based resource that helps participants recognise the impact of abusive behaviour on partners, former partners and children.

Challenges

  • Converting complex patterns of coercive control and emotional abuse into realistic, relatable scenarios that users can meaningfully engage with.
  • Working with sensitive subject matter required close collaboration with specialists and stakeholders to ensure the experience remained accurate, ethical and trauma-informed.

IMPACT

A virtual reality resource to help participants understand the real-world impact of domestic abuse from the perspectives of a victim, a witness and a child. By creating space for empathy, reflection and accountability, the experience strengthens existing behaviour-change programmes and supports more meaningful conversations around the consequences of abusive behaviour.
